Default How Funny Is This? PETA finally with a worthwhile campaign!

PETA Gets Catty With Clay
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...celeb_eo/12960
By Sarah Hall

Quote:
PETA has measured Clay Aiken's manhood and found it lacking.

After Aiken confessed his hatred of felines in a recent Rolling Stone interview, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals joined forces with Triumph the Insult Comic Dog in a combined effort to "poop on" the American Idol runner-up.

A new ad campaign by the activist group features the cigar-chomping puppet Triumph, wearing a post-surgery collar and bandages over his recently clipped nether region, proclaiming the message: "Get Neutered--It didn't hurt Clay Aiken."
What do think of this?

HE HE HE! That is funny. No one should have hatred towards animals, especially felines. He is famous now, he must be PC. Good for PETA. I would support PETA more, but some of their campaigns are extreme. I love their milksucks.com campaign and when I was living in Boston there was a huge billboard or Jesus saying, Jesus was a vegetarian (or something like that) I think they stand for a lot of worthy causes, but sometimes they take their campaigns one step too far.

Remember when you asked what we would be doing on turkey day? well, Steve, I will be eating Tofurkey or a Now and Zen Unturkey....

Does anyone else think PETA is shooting itself in the foot with this campaign?

I'm not an American Idol fan and could care less about Mr. Aiken, so I wasn't aware of his stance on cats. That said, if I did know of his feelings, who cares? So what if the guy doesn't like cats? His feelings on the topic isn't going to change my opinion one way or the other.

So PETA takes exception and decides to respond by ridiculing the guy. Okay, fine, they're more than allowed to, but it sure looks petty. As much as I'm not an AI fan, this isn't going to get me more on PETA's side of issues because they're taking shots at him.

Couldn't agree more, John T. Since people are wearing less fur these days, apparently PETA felt that they haven't been getting enough press lately. This is beyond silly.

I could see all this uproar if Clay Aiken said he tortured cats or ate them, or something. I happen to love cats, but hey, that's me. This is a cheap shot on PETA's part.

I think the people at PETA need to get a life. They often have great messages, but their delivery is what gives them their reputation. It makes no sense to behave in a manner that 90% of the country will scoff at, regardless of the message. To try and force Clay Aitken to speak that little blurb about cats is laughable. I like animals, and I'm kind to animals, but there are much more normal ways to get the message out than to single out one kid (who is still a naive new superstar) who doesn't yet realize that he now has to watch every single thing that he says.

Well, that's it -- I say we trade Blob for Clay!

Free Clay Aiken! Free Clay Aiken! Free Clay Aiken!

Boy--such inner turmoil so early in the morning----I love Clay and hate cats but I love PETA.

I am a vegetarian but I'm not crazy about it to others...however, I love PETA like I used to love the class clown--livens things up--their antics make me laugh. Plus, I think they've exposed a lot of things and done some good while doing it. Silly sometimes? Yes. Stupid sometimes? That too. But entertaining.

I think PETA sucks (most of the time), they are environmental terrorist like the Earth Liberation Front, and as dangerous as the anti-abortionists willing to do anything to further their cause even if it hurts or puts others in danger.

I like Clay Aikens, and am glad he's not at the point in his life that he would even think twice about curtailing his views to avoid offending anyone. And I like cats!!

John,

I think PETA is too much. I'm a non-preachy, it's my own choice, vegetarian and have always been somewhat embarassed by their actions.

I love cats... I have two who think they're dogs (they fetch, sometimes bark and breath heavy - in my ear, particularly when I'm trying to sleep). I do think CA probably shouldn't have mentioned that he was cruel to a defenselesss living thing, but he still has the right to say what he wants.

P
