Default Ireland

St Paddy's day has come and gone. I am shocked there is no mention of The McCartney/Sinn Fien story.
Any opinions?

There was stories on it on both Fox News and CNN. Both very anti-IRA.

I think the Brittish should get out of Ireland. I think the people that killed McCarthy are scum and if Sinn Fien want to be taken serious they have to move on from their IRA past.

This was a major blow to Sinn Fien and the IRA.

I doubt the English troops want to be there any more than our troops want to be in Iraq.

I seriously wonder why the IRA has not engaged in an open battle. I like the Brits, don't get it twisted, but come on already, give it up.

With the way the world is nowadays, IRA taking it to the streets aginst the Brits, may just end the occupation.

A small majority of of the people who live in Northern Ireland are protestant. A majority, including some Catholics, think of themselves as Britons. What you have now as fair a system as you will get. The Irish have a republic. Annexing the north would bring an unfathomable vigilante war.

Chief, I take the following positions with many issue regarding war/politics/peace.

Sometimes, enforceing a peace, only prolongs the bloodshed. Sometimes, you just have to step back, and let people go toe to toe.
It's like siblings, or pets who always fight, you can keep seprating them, breaking up the fights, sometimes it works, and sometimes, you gotta let em scrap with eachother.
