Yep, I'm going to run right out and have a 1 in 3 chance of getting something for free I already have for free...

I didn't mean are you going to buy more Pepsi because of the contest, smartarse.

I meant are people who may not normally use iTunes going to use winners if they get them? Because isn't that one of the hopes in any contest like this? To get people who many not normally use something to try it in hopes that they'll use it again in the future?

Man...I reread that and I seriously think I might be becoming the female version of El and Jason. Scarrrrrrrry.

I think there's a 1 in 3 chance of winning a free song download. I might try it if it was free, but my point was that KaZaa is always free and I already know how to use that.

Does anyone know if iTunes puts spyware on your computer?

if you are referring to the bubblegeneration article, that was an excellent take on the subject. I hope your comment was in reference to interest in economics and not being a "conservative." as Bush has probably enver read anything like that in his life. I think he must have that book "Everybody Poops" on his nightstand.

I was going to blindly say no, it doesn't use spyware, but the question made me curious, so I did a search.

From what I can tell, neither the Mac nor Windows versions include any spyware, though there are a couple people who claim it does, in various forms. However, there's no proof to back up those claims, so it appears safe.

As for the promotion, yeah, it's a 1 in 3 chance, so going and buying soda in hopes of winning makes no sense, since it's about the same prices to just buy the song. And I guess I understand the logic in sticking with the free method if you're used to it.

Feel free to send me any winning caps then. I like being a law-abiding citizen. ;-)

I just meant with random short snipets of biting sarcasm.

The bubblegeneration article was excellent. I've tried to paraphrase it to others, but I just end up sounding like "Everyone Poops" when I talk about it. Good call on that book, btw.

i haven't gotten into the music downloading thing yet. i used napster, audiogalaxy, and kazaa a few times but i'm a music nerd and i like having the cd package to hold and look through. i like to know who produced it and who they thank because that often helps me discover new bands. plus those places don't have cute little record store nymphs perched behind a counter for me to impress mith my musical acumen. my friends are into it though. a typical trip in their cars usually entails listening to 200 of the mp3s they burned that week in 10 second snippets.

"dude, remember kung fu fighting!" skips to next song
"dude putting on the ritz by taco" skips to next song
"amadeus, amedeus...amadeus"

i just don't think if i ever have kids they'll be as pysched to stumble upon my mix cd #148 which includes every song from the 90s as i was to find my mom's record collection. i think her jethro tull aqualung album still had pot stems in the middle of the gatefold.

hopefully you won't eb using cd's, they are so bulky and superfluous. I love the portability and ease of transfer that is digital music. I like themusic but could care less who produced it. I'm mroe faithful to seom label's who I think put out good music consistently, like eighteenth street or david byrne's label, but overall...digital! I hate the fact that no one makes a car steroe with a compact flash slot. or that there is not rca jack to plug in an mp3 player.

I'm old school with the cd's. I want to look into getting an Ipod or other mp3 player for the gym...but the idea of learning how to use it scares me a little.

i think the same things about the convenience of digital media el, it just seems to be heading towards a quantity over quality issue for me and i hate it. i'm not saying i'm right, i just enjoy checking out someone's record collection more than looking over their shoulder while they show me how they've organized their my music folder on their laptop. i certainly don't think the channels of distribution should revolve around my personal tastes i just hope that i'll always have a few record stores to go to because music is really important to me. one good thing is i've been able to buy up other people's vinyl collections that they no longer have use for.

speaking of david byrne i've been listening to that soundtrack he wrote for that young adam movie.
