Yes, those who believe Global Warming is a fraud are flat earthers. We all are uneducated rubes. While those who believe in it are the enligthened progressives who never speak in platitudes(such as calling dissenters "flat earthers") and back up there claims with science(by saying "scientists say", which means nothing).

I am highly intelligent. As such, I studied this issue. Global Warming is a product of the Sun. It is a natural cycle. Governments need not turn our lives over to these nutjobs to "save" us.

National Policy
07.1 CLIMATE CHANGE

Adopted by Council on November 18, 2007)
Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate. Greenhouse gases include carbon dioxide as well as methane, nitrous oxide and other gases. They are emitted from fossil fuel combustion and a range of industrial and agricultural processes.

The evidence is incontrovertible: Global warming is occurring. If no mitigating actions are taken, significant disruptions in the Earth’s physical and ecological systems, social systems, security and human health are likely to occur. We must reduce emissions of greenhouse gases beginning now.

Because the complexity of the climate makes accurate prediction difficult, the APS urges an enhanced effort to understand the effects of human activity on the Earth’s climate, and to provide the technological options for meeting the climate challenge in the near and longer terms. The APS also urges governments, universities, national laboratories and its membership to support policies and actions that will reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Chief...Fair enough....but whether it is natural or human induced or both..we're still screwed. I've read things from people I respect that say it's a farce and is being used by governments to create demand destruction deliberately among the masses so the wealthy can consolidate their wealth and power. However, it does seems like "tin hat" speak like so many others always accuse people of engaging in on this PB but when they do it they are to be considered enlightened thinkers.

However, I can't see how massive of doses of carbon spewed out into the atmosphere for the last 100+ years (since the dawn of the oil age and introduction of the combustion engine) has little or NO impact on the climate. To me that just defies reason but I'll continue entertaining points of view like yours without necessarily accepting them.

Chief, you bristle at being called names based on your beliefs and then turn around and call people with whom you disagree "nutjobs"?

You're free to believe whatever you want, but tactics like the OP's do nothing to promote your cause. Anyone remotely familiar with scientific research realizes that unanimous agreement on any theory is almost unheard of, even the concept of gravity was hugely controversial in its day, so it's always possible to find scientific dissent that will fit you predisposed beliefs. That does nothing to refute the overwhelming majority of scientists that have studied global warming and concluded that it was at least in good part related to human activity.

I'm doing my part. I'm keeping my carbon footprint even smaller than Gore's.

<H2>APS Climate Change Statement
Quote:

APS Position Remains Unchanged
The American Physical Society reaffirms the following position on climate change, adopted by its governing body, the APS Council, on November 18, 2007:
"Emissions of greenhouse gases from human activities are changing the atmosphere in ways that affect the Earth's climate."
An article at odds with this statement recently appeared in an online newsletter of the APS Forum on Physics and Society, one of 39 units of APS. The header of this newsletter carries the statement that "Opinions expressed are those of the authors alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of the APS or of the Forum." This newsletter is not a journal of the APS and it is not peer reviewed.

Ok. So you admit that the warming of the planet is occurring-you just think it is naturally occurring and not a man-made phenomenon. So if you admit that it is happening, regardless of what the cause is, why isn't it necessary to protect the planet from the effects and costs, which will run into the billions by anyone's estimate?

Also, don't you think that these climatologists, who study climate for a living (unlike you and I), should be listened to when it comes to their livelihood? Don't you agree that there is some sort of chance that man is impacting global warming in some way? To their credit, scientists who believe global warming is man-made admit that their theory is not absolute. Even leading proponents of global warming stated that there was a 90% chance the global warming was a man-made effect, admitting a 10% possibility that it is not man-made. That gives them some credibility to me. Does the other side admit such a possibility? If they don't, they would seem less believable to me.
Also, if skeptics of global warming were to gather and produce a report-I would read it and consider it-why don't they do so?

But common sensically speaking, why is it so hard for people to believe that the vast amounts of pollution our industries create might have an adverse impact on our environment? It just seems so plausible to me. Those who debunk man made global warming seem to be more guided by ideology since they are unwilling to admit the possibility. They just look stubborn and narrow-minded, or proponents of businesses that will be adversely affected by the reforms.
