They have some ways to go as far as technology related consumer products and competitiveness. They even have admitted as much but they are learning quick. That's why they have a hard on for Taiwan..

you want cheap, you buy chinese, you want high quality but expensive, taiwanese...(no slight to Korea). Taiwan is where the iphone is produced AFAIK.
