Good point. The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

China I mean.

Lightbulb Beijing Olympics

What if the athletes carry Tibetan flags during the ceremonies? Could/would the Chinese authorities do anything?

So true.

And so it is with Red China. We can boo, hiss or holler about Tibet, child labor or lead paint, but the Chinese already have our money. And our technology. And our souls, as addicted consumers. Not that protesting is completely useless. At least it makes us feel better. But, as Václav Klaus suggested, what lesson can a country with one-130th the population teach China? The time for the West to protest was 30-40 years ago, before events reached the point of no return. Now we can only lament that no one is willing to be as frank as the Chili Peppers about our predicament.

Not to downplay your question, but the ChiComs had been trying to ethnically cleanse Tibet for about 50 years now, and they'll be damned if some stupid Olympics is going to stop them from "Civilizing the savages".

Probably race out, wrestle the flags from their hands, beat them unconcious with black-jacks and imprison them.
The ChiComs aren't the most deft folks at handling P.R. It's sort of like hoping a psychopath will act rationally.

You're missing something here...we have China's money!...a lot of the cost of the war in Iraq is being financed by China, through their purchase of US Treasury bonds...they will never get that money back...also, all the various supposedly 'American' coporations that operate in Chima are making a ton of money, not to mention the Rockefellers and their banks...two employees of the Rockefeller family, Henry Kissinger & Richard Nixon, were the US leaders who 'opened up' China...see, it's easy to blame the Chinese, who are not angels...but who financed the Communist Chinese in the first place?...study history...the same families that financed the Bolsheviks in Russia, the leading ones being Rothschild & Rockefeller...it is exactly the same today, only the names of the fronts have changed: for imstance, one is now called 'Wal-Mart'.

Just for clarification, I think the quote "We already have your money." originally came from Iggy Pop. Of course I can understand anyone making that mix-up.
