Default Saudi maid arrested for bewitching employer

http://www.khaleejtimes.com/DisplayA...middleeast&col=

She had "talismans and products of charlatanism" in her quarters.

Kind of comical, except that she could be put to death.

Default Any one feel like they've seen this one before?

This story very much reminds me of the hilariously tantalizing NBC Sit Com, "We Got It Maid" (Fall 1983-4) staring the effervescent Terri Copely (aka Mickey Mackenzie) in her pre-Playboy days, who took a job as a housekeeper in the Manhattan apartment of attorney David Tucker (Played by Matt McCoy, who later had a less than stellar career as an OLB with the Philadelphia Eagles after coming out of San Diego State following his Junior Year) and salesman Jay Bostwick (Tom Vilsack).

Tension and humorous situations arose as David and Jay's girl friends, Beth (Bonnie Urseth) and Claudia (Stephanie Kramer, who later went on to play the immortal role of Sgt. Dee Dee McCall on the mega-hit Hunter) respectively, periodically experienced elevated angst over the presence of such a stone cold knock-out in their boyfriend's apartment.

Interestingly, Villsack, who was the toast of the town after his captivating and inspiring performance won rave reviews from critics, died less than a decade later of Gay Cancer. Apparently, having participated in some unspeakable carnal acts with Stephanie Kramer that were only vaguely alluded to in the We Got It Made series, the couple broke up and in the later seasons of Hunter, Sgt. Rick Hunter (Los Angeles Rams Great Fred Dryer who, like McCoy, was also a SDU alum) began a romantic liaison with Kramer. Her appetite being whet now for dark, passionate relations of the flesh, one can only speculate that this is how Dryer's oh so promising career as a Thespian, derailed. Dryer now lives in an AIDS hospice in Hawthorn CA, ruing the day he ever gave his heart to the brunette siren who would spell his ultimate doom.

This story you've posted sounds very much the same and I hope the Mutaween can intervene before more lives are wrecked (as an aside Copely later became a Born Again Christian which will undoubtedly reap more wrath for the bewitching maid in the Kingdom of Saud.)

It's not the same Matt McCoy, unless he was playing an attorney at the age of 1.

Just to get back to the OP for a sec...

Since she's been arrested for trying to work magic on someone, that implies that the larger population and government believes that magic can be worked. So, what kind of magic would that be?

But they also referred to her as a charlatan, so there is the idea that her magic is fraudulent. Clearly, there is a jealous wife (or wives) involved and this is a way of excusin the husband, a muslim, for his role in whatever happened.

Maybe she wiggles her nose to make things magically transform but she has a hilarious habit of botching the spell.

I wonder if Bewitched reruns are banned in Saudia Arabia.
