Default Adware and The Internet

Does this blight bother anyone? The electronic equivalent of telephone soliciting has reached a new level of relentlessness. It's virtually impossible to suppress all the pop-up ads anymore. If you put your browser "privacy" settings too high, many websites are unreachable. This fact has emboldened adware purveyors to make the software more aggressive (and invasive) than ever.

The rationale of using this type of software to help keep the Internet free of charge is beyond bogus.

Also, FireFox, a web browser alternative to Internet Explorer, is fantastic at stopping pop-ups. I haven't seen a pop-up in years. A lot of the ad companies target Internet Explorer because 1> it's easier to disrupt and 2> it's more widely used.

Check it out. You won't even realize you're not using IE.

The only thing you'll notice is that it's better! I also use Firefox and never see popups.

Yeah you'll actually notice your not using IE, which is such a horrible blight that I'm sure it has prematurely aged me. Firefox with Sage and the various other plugins are a massive upgrade. Take 30 mins to customize it and you'll save hours over the next month.

I have to try this. I am in pop-up hell at the moment.

Default Don't forget other IE alternatives

Safari on Macintosh also has an option to block popups. I believe Konquerer (on linux & BSD OSen, whose code Safari is based on) and Opera also feature popup blocking.
