Default Hero Cop May Have Saved Scores Of Lives (London Car Bomb)

From Sky News:
http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/...272910,00.html

Sky News sources say one of the first police officers on the scene of the London West End car bomb may have saved dozens of lives by diffusing the explosives before the bomb squad arrived.

It is believed the quick-thinking cop recognised that the car was wired to blow up, jumped in and disconnected the trigger device, thought to be a mobile phone.

This backs up an eye-witness account of a police officer briefly entering the metallic green Mercedes before running for cover.

People are being warned to stay vigilant after the discovery of the "massive" car bomb, which could have killed hundreds of nightclub revellers.

The device, which contained 60 litres of petrol, a large amount of nails and several gas canisters, was found in the Mercedes early this morning.
[end of excerpt]

Well, I hate to jump to conclusions, but this has all the earmarks of another Amish terror attack. Profiling those with draught horses may be the only way to prevent this type of stuff.

Come on, it's not the Amish. It's either Islamic terrorists, or Irish, or Anarchist, or some other nutjob. Profile for that.

Incidentally, how did profiling help with the detection of this threat?

On a serious note, I think their great camera system was trained on and recording the situation.

Muslims you say? Now there's a surprise.

Profiling didn't help at all because the Brits don't do it.

And of course neither do we, thank you Norm Mineta, Mike Chertoff, Tom Ridge, and W.

Have you returned from traveling abroad and seen the lines of Arab looking people being pulled for further questioning? Better yet, when was the last time a terrorist bomb exploded on US soil? How many terrorist plots have our authorities uncovered before they could come to fruition? Why do you think that we've been so successful at catching people before they carry out their plans?

Whatever our official policy on profiling might be, it's happening. It's happening in the UK as well. Any Islam-affiliated group that is even slightly critical of the government is being heavily monitored. That's not a value laden observation--I'm not saying that it's wrong or right. It's an objective observation.

Quit your absurd posturing.

Yeah profiling for Arabs would have definitely cought these 3 just convicted of a failed bombing.

Or this cat who did the Bali bombing.

Because everyone knows Muslims only come in one physical "type".

Actually, you're the one who jumped to the assumption that anyone was talking about profiling Arabs.

Given your and Tanny's history of Arab bashing it didn't take much of a leap ...

Oh dear.
Is there no end to you displaying your ignorance?

Have you ever heard of a country called "Indonesia"? It's the largest muslim country in the world and there's (surprisingly) quite a bit of terrorist activity there. Did you know that Iran (Persian, Azeri), Afghanistan (Pashtun, Tajik), and Pakistan (Punjabi, Sindhi) all have majority muslim populations, but aren't Arab? Did you know that all Arabs aren't muslim?

Maybe you can work on a Venn Diagram of muslims and figure out the overlaps of muslims and Arabs.
