Homosexuals told to quit or surgery will be refused By DAN NEWLING Homosexuals are to be denied operations on the NHS unless they give up homosexual sodomy for at least four weeks beforehand Doctors will police the rule by ordering patients to take a blood test to prove they have not been participating in homosexual sodomy. The ruling, authorised by Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt, comes after medical research conclusively showed homosexuals take longer to recover from surgery due to the higher frequency of AIDS. It is thought that 500,000 homosexuals a year will be affected. However patients' groups argue that the move is about the NHS saving money rather than improving patient care. They claim that health trusts do not want to operate on homosexuals because they stay in hospital longer, as a result of much higher incidents of AIDS, blocking beds and costing more to treat. The ruling applies to routine operations such as hip replacements and heart surgery for conditions that are not immediately life-threatening. If homosexuals refuse to give up, they are still likely to be treated but may have to wait longer. Leicester City Primary Care Trust will become the first health authority to introduce the "quit or wait" rule this summer. Other health trusts are consulting on the idea. Rod Moore, the trust's assistant director of public health, said: "If people give up homosexual sodomy prior to planned operations it will improve their recovery. It would reduce the likelihood of complications arising from HIV/AIDS and wounds would heal faster.

Wow this article is really vague. So there's a "gay blood test" now? What in Heavens do they mean by that?

I think the NHS policy on smokers by purposely delaying or canceling needed surgery will probably backfire. Patients who aren't seriously ill might just let their condition deteriorate further, suicides could probably rise, etc.
The negative consequences could put too much egg on the NHS's face that they might feel pressured to reverse course.

I think that people who have recently had lotion rubbed on their backs by a member of the same sex should be refused treatment. By the way, Tannhauser, I think you should be made aware that there are plenty of heterosexuals who also practice "sodomy". Perhaps they should be denied treatment too? |

You may find agreement with that statement from Health Secretary Patricia Hewitt, but likely she'll be targeting other groups who partake in "Politically Incorrect" behaviors long before she gets to sodomites, drug users, gang members, etc.

You got me with that one!
I was trying to figure out the logic, without much success until I clicked the link. Anyway, it does make sense because the stimulants in cigarettes constrict blood vessels. They bring blood to wounds which makes them heal, so a choked off supply of blood is going to make for slow healing, which opens a person to infection and other problems. So, the smoking patient is actually being rude to the doctor and working against him, while asking for help, by smoking. It makes sense to me. Now a doctor friend of mine told me about an operation for flaccid poopshuts that might be a better subject for your original post, but I wouldn't go into it. |
