Default Prince Harry Going To Serve In Iraq!

Title says it all.

I don't know. According to the extreme leftists on this blog britain is supposedly leaving iraq, but then if they're leaving....how come
Prince Harry of Britain is enlisting and serving in Iraq?

That's strange.

According to their announcements, Britain is only planning on pulling out about 1/4 of their troops in Iraq... not all of them. Personally, I don't find it strange at all that he's going. He'd be just one of a number of royals that have seen combat duty in the past. I think I read somewhere that he feels it would be silly to go through all the rigorous training he's had, and not take the opportunity to put his training to use. Makes sense to me. If its something he feels he needs to do, then have at it.

After all, this is Harry we're talking about... not Wils. William will be King someday, whereas Harry probably won't. Wils is in the military too, but I doubt he'll ever see combat duty.

I understand this whole thing.

That said. I think it is an incredibly stupid thing to do.

Do you give him extra protection? I'd think you'd have to. But then that defeats the purpose of sending him over there in the first place.

And this isn't a typical war situation. There are people involved in this mess who are only interested in making this the biggest, sloppiest mess that they can make this. Kidnapping and beheading a prince could be right up their alley.

You get far less mileage out of your brain than most people do.

What does one thing have to do with the other? I mean aside from the fact that you like to think yourself clever (one of the great self-delusions of all time).

He'll be with the Royal Army, WHY would he need extra protection?

Well, okay, so he's a prince. What the heck are princes for these days in the UK? They're figureheads, with no political power, and if the war effort needs a boost, how better than to let the young trouble-making prince join the fray? Looks good on his resume ... he's 'changing his ways', becoming a mature young royal, gets him out of the discos, etc. This is what princes DO! They party, or go to war. Particularly the non-crown princes.

Of course it is a gamble ... if somehow he were kidnapped it would be a big fiasco. But who knows what the powers behind the throne really want? Maybe it would be a GOOD thing for their agenda? Maybe it's already planned?

It probably IS worth the extra security. SAS are already on the payroll, you just need to deploy a few of these maniacs in his general vicinity. It will be VERY CALM and PEACEFUL wherever Harry's unit goes.

I think it's great that he's stepping up.

Don't worry about Harry. He'll just get a Saddam costume and be all set. Actually, maybe an al Sadr costume would be better in the Basra area.

I'd love to see some sort of evidence in support of this assertion. So far I've only seen lame displays of your 'wit'.

"Combat experience" is something that commands respect among a certain segment of the population. Therefore, Harry wants combat experience. In the future, in whatever he chooses to do, he'll be able to get a little bit further and be listened to a little bit more seriously because he has it. And it doesn't matter whether he becomes a professional flower arranger because, even in that field, combat experience will still give him more chops. (News item: "Floral arrangements for the annual pre-Wimbleton gala were supplied by florist Harry Windsor, a combat veteran of the Iraq war.")

War is opportunity, folks.
