Reality shows -- yech.

The only one of these I honestly enjoy is Queer Eye for The Straight Guy. For me, all the rest of them are more hype than anything.

Although I must confess, I barely watched any of them after the first couple of episodes of Survivor. When they got to the part where they had to eat the bugs, that was ju-u-u-u-ust about enough for me!

I'll tell you what I really used to enjoy: The Real World (New York). As far as reality shows of recent times -- it was one of the first and the best. Got bored by the third season, though.

Simply put, I think relationships are hard enough without having a camera recording your every move.

Do you think that it is possible for a REAL relationship to spring from any of these shows?

I think it's possible, but not likely. I know that at least one marriage came out of The REAL WORLD series on MTV, but the people on that show tend to be younger, and in my opinion, more 'real'. In addition, they don't come to the show specifically looking to 'fall in love'; that isn't the premise of the show.

By contrast, the Paradise Motel, For Love or Money, Joe Millionaire stuff is all about meeting Mr or Ms. Right. Too much pressure! Too much of a temptation to manufacture feelings that aren't really there or to try to nurture a simple infatuation into a "loooooooooove match", in my opinion.

Any time money enters the picture, relationships get very tricky..... :?

What is everyone watching now?

Has anyone seen the Spike TV mock-reality show, Joe Schmoe? How about the new NBC show Average Joe?

I mostly watch Comedy Central. Tought Crowd, the Daily Show, Southpark, Conan, all good stuff.

Also just started watching Jesse Venturas America on MSNBC on saturday nights. That looks like a good show.

Ok, this just proves that I need to find a new blog to hang out on with people closer to my age.

My must-sees are The West Wing, Law & Order (the original, not the spinoffs), Sex and The City, Will & Grace, Joan of Arcadia, and The Sopranos.
