Going back to KenFMt's original question, I'd also surmise that views towards homosexuality and the perception that AIDS is still a gay disease impacts our prioritization of AIDS research.

You know what amuses me? Bigoted people who lack the fortitude and conviction to say what's really on their mind. If you want to go off on a vicious tirade against gays why don't you just do it? Why be coy and beat around the bush?

Again...that's not a cause of AIDS. Transmission of the virus through bodily fluids is the cause...period. I'm not saying homophobia and other issues may not contribute to its effect and how widespread it is, but they don't CAUSE the disease. Exposure to the virus causes the disease.
