Default Rumsfeld Resigns!

I assume he wants to spend more time with his family.

Rumsfeld did not resign on his own. The President asked him to step down and in turn kept his dignity and told the media he resigned.

Cheney wanted to keep Rumsfeld on, but Bush decided it wouldn't be best. Bush should have gotten rid of him years ago!

This election proved that every vote counts. People wanted a change (including myself) and the President finally realized this through the polls.

where did you acquire that insight?

I've heard that Sec. Rumsfeld has tendered his resignation several times and Pres. Bush, until now, rejected it.

last week, Bush said..."Rumsfeld is in this for the long haul."

now, the day after the election....Rumsfeld resigns. (a bit of a move to steal the massive headlines from the Dems).......

I ask you this.......

Is this an example of Bush 'waffling'? I thought that he hated waffles.

We outlawed slavery in this country more than a century ago, if I recall correctly. If Rummy wanted to go, all he had to do was turn off the lights and walk out. His prior "resignations" were nothing more than cover, like the current "resignation," so that if it became immediately necessary, Bush could say "Hey, I said I wouldn't fire him and I didn't" while at the same time actually firing him. And after yesterday, clearly someone needed to fall on their Republican sword, and Rummy was the go to guy.

I'm sure Bush knew about the resignation a week ago. He did not want it to be out before the election and make him look more unstable.
