Default Urgent Dogs at PAWS need Foster and Adoption!

URGENT! These dogs have limited time left at PAWS- the shelter is full full full, and these dogs need to find foster or forever homes ASAP. We need your help to save their lives!

If you can help any of these dogs, please get in touch with Natalie at NatalieSmith33@yahoo.com or 267-385-3800 x114.

You can also come down to the shelter any day of the week between 11am and 6pm. PAWS, 111 W. Hunting Park Ave, Philly, PA 19140. www.phillypaws.org

Lenora- A04038764
Lenora is a beautiful tiger striped brindle pit mix, 1-2 years old. She’s got a goofy, unique and endearing face. Lenora is a sweet and affectionate girl that loves to explore outside, or hang out on the couch. Lenora does not like every dog that crosses her path, but with proper introductions, is fine. Poor Lenora is not doing well in the loud, stressful shelter environment, and grows more depressed each day.

Tiger- A04123388
Tiger is a super handsome unique colored mutt. Tiger is energetic and loves to play ball, so he would love an active home that can take him for walks and playtime at the park or yard. Tiger loves other dogs, and seems good with cats, but may need some training on kitty manners. Even though Tiger can be wiggly and bouncy he is smart and responsive and is working on his leash manners.

Dustin- A04209522
Dustin is one of our cutest dogs. We aren’t quite sure of this funny guy’s breed- maybe a hound-pointer-terrier mix? He is tall and lanky, but could use to gain some weight. He has a striking bold white black and brown coat with adorable little brown eyebrows like a Rotti or Dobi. Dustin loves to play and give kisses, and when he spots you coming over to take him out, he gets all wiggly and happy. Dustin still has some puppy playfulness in him, so could use a home that tires him out with fun activities. Dustin also loves snuggling and burrowing in pillows. Dustin likes other dogs, and is very smart (already learning her basic commands, even in the crazy shelter environment!) Dustin’s playful energy is great for other dogs, but is probably a bit too exuberant for cats.

Renaldo- A04052714
Renaldo is one of my favorite dogs. He is a small and lean terrier mix with a stunning, rich dark brindle color that looks like dark chocolate candy bar! He is a perfect size- about 35 pounds- not too big, not too small- just right! Renaldo is really fun and can appear very energetic in the shelter, but responds well to corrections and is smart and responsive. Renaldo really likes other dogs, and isn’t too sure what to do with cats- he is standoffish with kitties, and will get defensive, but when you correct him he focuses on you and leaves them be. Renaldo would make a great dog for an active young couple or fun loving family.

Ghost- A02539152
Ghost is a black lab pit mix that is about 1 year old. Ghost is a real sweetheart- he loves to give wiggly happy kisses! Living for so long in the shelter has not helped Ghost to learn all his manners, but he is a smart learner. Ghost is an active, playful boy- loves to play ball and run around the yard. Ghost also appreciates a good nap though, too. Ghost does like other dogs, but is not a fan of dominant, alpha dogs. Ghost loves getting his belly rubbed, and his ears scratched. This sensitive, playful boy should not be placed with children- he seems to have been stepped on or poked by one too many kids and get be a bit nervous and touchy with little ones.

Sheba- A04034552
Sheba is a really cute small Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. She is 6-10 years old, but don’t let her age fool you- she is still full of life and loves being playful and going on long walks. Sheba also loves playing fetch! Sheba is not a fan of most dogs, as she is too old to be jumped on and played with by other dogs- she prefers to do her own thing and have her own space! Sheba also isn’t a fan of cats. Sheba would be a great match for someone looking for a low-maintenance “home ready” dog that enjoys walks and low-key hanging out and doesn’t mind forgoing long jogs or trips to dog parks. Sheba already walks well on the leash.

Gizmo- A04173456
Gizmo is an athletic and handsome gold colored pit/terrier mix at the peak of his adolescence. Gizmo and strong and active, so he needs a strong leader to show him how to behave and when to be playful and when to chill out. Gizmo is eager to play, and eager to please- he is highly trainable, attentive and intelligent. Gizmo would make a fantastic outdoors companion (think walking, jogging, running or hiking)- he is in impeccable shape and would be a loyal partner.

Sweetie- A04086969
Sweetie is a aptly named- she is a sweet as pie middle aged pit mix who appears to be a former momma. She is a quiet, cuddly girl who enjoys outdoor times and walks, but would make a great couch partner. Sweetie likes other dogs, and is an easy walker on the leash, with nice ladylike manners.

Natasha- A04154475
Natasha is a pretty and serene 4 year old small Shepherd mix with a beautiful brown and black medium length coat that is a great manageable size. Natasha is very sweet, but the loud, stressful shelter environment makes her timid and sad. Natasha came to the shelter as an owner surrender, so we imagine she is “home ready” and will only need a little guidance and routine to get back on a housebreaking schedule. Natasha seems to enjoy other dogs. She is a cuddle bug and would thrive in a calm, safe, and loving home.

Ises- A04200353
Isis is a true diamond in the rough. Isis is a big boned, long pit mix that is 1-2 years old. Isis has a beautiful unique color that with a healthy weight and better diet will make her a real stunner. Though Isis was surrendered by her owner, it appears she did not come from a safe, loving home. Isis is incredibly timid and wary of new people, which is really sad. Once you give Isis the time and space to sniff and explore you, and give her some love, she really comes out of her shell and is incredibly friendly and loving. Isis walks well on the leash and has great manners. She is a real cuddle bug and is very laid back. Isis seems to like other dogs, but can be timid with other dogs as well. No photos yet! Coming tomorrow AM!

Missy- A04142113
Missy is one of my favorite dogs at the shelter. She is a 1-2 year old pit-mix with a beautiful face and deep brindle color. Missy likes other dogs (though not always alpha females), but is not a fan of cats. She is the unfortunate victim of a domestic situation- her owner was in a fight with their significant other and Missy ended up with an injured leg and a spray paint on her. We have given Missy baths and the spray paint is almost all gone, and she is now weight bearing on her leg, but she is losing weight in the shelter and needs out- She is such a sweet girl, one of my daily routines is to go give her kisses right on her snout - she is not high energy, just an all around great girl. She is snuggly and affectionate and would make a loyal canine partner.

This is like those Pedigree commercials. You look at these dogs and want to adopt every one of them!

I know--I love them all!

Even if you can't adopt for good, you can become part of our fostering team. This mean you would just get the dog from the shelter, teach them how to be a pet...not just an animal in a cage...and give them the affection and discipline they need.

Fostering is great! We just had our number 18, Cassie, and our number 19, Vegas, placed this weekend!!! It's the most rewarding thing I have ever done!

You would have the support of numerous volunteers all over the city!

Please consider adopting or fostering these animals. When you adopt from PAWS, you are truly saving a life!

BOOT KevinFlys!!!!

Oh I wish I had time in my life right now for a dog but if I adopted one, it would be cruel for the dog. Unless someone knows of a dog that I only have to feed every couple months like my snake?

Since these dogs were posted so long ago, they are no longer available for adoption.

Though I don't know what happened to all these dogs, I know what happened to some:

Lenora, Dustin, Renaldo, and Ghost went into fostercare and were adopted! (I actually fostered Ghost - he is now Angus and living the good life on a farm!)

Sheba - went to rescue.

I'm not sure of the fate of the others...but you can probably guess what happened to them.

If you are looking for a dog, please check out our website at www.phillypaws.org or www.phillyfosters.com to see the wonderful dogs that are waiting for families to call their own.

Thanks for asking!

There are so many Pitbulls in all the shelters. It's insane.
