Every year sometimes twice. I try to clear away things I don't use regularly.
I have in the past year or so had difficulty doing so.
I guess with the crunch there are less people to answer phones. I have had trouble finding places to take my things.
During the past year I have thrown away 5 large boxes of clothing and junked a running van.
It kills me to do this but after months of calling, where I get grief or no answer. Quite frankly, I give up.
Last winter it took 8 phone calls to reach a person somewhere who could tell me they accepted old sheets, towels etc. for cleaning and bedding stray animals and when I could bring them.
I will not take things to a place where they don't want them.
At the moment I have some adult clothing and decorating magazines.

You might try philly freecycle - a group of people who share things they have or things they need.

In most cases, people know they must pick items up (every once in a while, things might get dropped off).

This group, now numbering nearly 2000, exchanged more than a 1000 items (or groups of items) last month.

Similar groups have spun off phillyfreecycle and cover specific areas of the city or the surrounding counties.

Yup.

It seems it was a local problem that caused me to lose my voice.
