Default Children's hospital of Philadelphia

As part of my new years resolution, I want to spend time enriching someone else's life other than my own. I recently was in the Children's Hospital and decided that would be a great place to volunteer, but I found no info on their web site concerning volunteering, anyone got a connection?

Must have been blind, thanks, I just called and got a packet on its way out to me.

Just FYI for those who may be interested, they ask for a 2-3 hour commitment a week for 2-3 months.

Default CHOP

My mom works for their Chalfont office. It is an amazing organization all the way around. You should see the location in Montco - just amazing.

Not trying to copycat Wil's move, but I had been looking for a way to donate some of my time, so I'm trying to volunteer at Children's Hospital also. I'm running into a problem with my vaccination history.

As in, I can't find it.

I'll get it tracked down eventually, I'm sure, and I completely understand why they need to check these things. It's still a bit frustrating.

I bet neither of you has had to produce your shot records since grade school.

I have a suggestion... go BACK to your high school and contact the school nurse. Your shot records may be microfilmed or stored on paper and be retrievable.

You may have to get a shot or two that was not required when you were a kid, like HepB or chicken pox, or get a tetantus booster and a TB test. They require that of everyone in health care settings. Believe me, you don't WANT to get chicken pox as an adult!

First I tried my old pediatrician. The receptionist said they probably have the records, but they're in the garage.

Not storage. The garage. I couldn't help but laugh when she said that.

Anyway, she suggested I try my high school, since they had them also. So I called the high school I graduated from, only to be told they don't have the records. They were probably put in the envelope with my diploma when I graduated.

That's great except I don't know where my diploma is anymore. My mother might have it. So, I'm most likely going to have to call the pediatrician again and ask the receptionist nicely to go digging in the garage.

Really making you jump through hoops!

My high school had them faxed to me in minutes

Now I just have to find the time to go to my doctor and have him sign off on it, and hopefully I will be on my way.
