Default Donate children's books - where?

Hi,

Early next week I will have some children's books that I'd like to donate somewhere, rather than leave them on the curb with the trash.

Any suggestions?

I'm not sure if our [understaffed, curtailed hours] public libraries would take them. Not sure if school libraries are open yet, either.

Thanks.

Try the Free Library's used bookstore, on 20th Street just north of (and behind) the main branch at Logan Circle. They usually take donations.

Actually, the branches of the Free Library take donations! Call your local branch and ask to speak to the Children's Librarian.

Denise King who books and hosts the free Friday night Firehouse Jazz concerts collects children's books for something she calls "Bebop and books"

Quote:
"BeBop and BOOKS"

"BeBop and Books" is a program that I designed specifically to keep children interested in the wonder of books and reading. The program makes books, and educational supplies accessible while encouraging children to continue reading throughout their summer vacation.
The children learn that reading is not only fun but, the gateway to many new and exciting opportunities.

Books are donated by adult audience members , musicians and community organizations. The books are displayed on a table and are free for the children to take home and keep, or trade in for other books. The children always check their table for new books, school supplies(also donated) and other goodies that foster their educational interests. Donations can be made at the sound table every Friday during the series or mailed directly to:

Come out for the jazz, enjoy the vibe and drop of the books in a single trip. Heck you can even visit MiaLou while you are in the neighborhood.
