On a separate issue, what are those weird bell shaped contructions they are setting up at the corner of 34th and Chestnut? I remember seeing rendering a while back and I don't remember anything like these very odd two story tall bell shaped structures.

BTW, what are those bell-shaped structures in front of the building? They just put them up

(see a page or two back for an explanation)

Sorry i missed that. Its explained pretty well here.

Its interesting they are attaching the biggest bell to the ground and then connecting the other bells to the big one. Walk through sculpture. Interesting.

I see them as oversized mesh liberty bell models though I guess they are larger commentaries on sound. Although they look odd I imagine lit up at night they will be cool to walk through. Considerably better as modern art than those stupid ledges that look ventilation grates that Penn put up at 40th near Locust Walk. Those things just look awful and do not suggest "art" as much as vetliation structures. I bet 90% of the people who see those things think thay are part of a HVAC system. What a waste of money and space - and I actually like a lot of abstract art.

Default what is included in the rent?

What is included in the rent? Water, electric, gas, heat, A/C, pool, fitness center? The Web site should have a FAQ.

Agreed! I love the campus and the area, but having to walk by this...THING every day is not making me happy (I get off the EL at 34th).

Right. The even uglier surface parking lot that was there
for years and years was better. Come on.

I didn't say the surface parking lot was better. And I'm not complaining about the built housing. I'm just not happy with the "artwork."

It's still very incomplete though...

They should have just put a bronze statue of William Penn tokin' on a big spliff there instead.

Now something like that would clearly indicate the "tolerant" and "progressive"
attitude of the campus.
