I like your names, junebug. We were trying to think of pairs of cat names based on local place names--I liked Tasker & Ellsworth or Florence & Windsor. Any others?

I like the name "Ellsworth" - sounds like the name of a butler.

Since our cats are sisters they were going to have similar names (we were going to go with Tasker & Morris for the subway stop near us, but Morris was already taken by a more famous cat) We were then going to go for Wasabi and Nori for the whole sushi theme. Finally we decided that they were different enough to each have their own thing going on. Still like the idea of matching names, though.

You want suggestions for pairs of places? How about Allegheny and Monongahela? Sodom and Gamorrah? Passyunk and Moyamensing? Hollywood and Vine? I know there are more out there...

Those are good...actually it's just an intellectual exercise at this point, spurred by somebody else who actually was trying to pick cat names. I just thought it was fun.

Also Beaumont could go with Florence or Windsor (streets in my neighborhood) but it could sound a bit ironic on a cat. Lindbergh and Essington...

If/when you have access to a car, let me suggest taking a look at PetValu on Cityline next to the Acme. My friend goes there and get 25lb bags of litter for like $5 or less sometimes. The people in the store are extremely nice and always willing to help you carry big bags.

Thanks for the suggestion, O! Maybe I'll ask my honey to take me when he comes over. Still shaking my head over this... I'd be curious to know how much of that litter they sell...

I buy Exquisicat cat litter from PetSmart at 24th and Oregon. For 10.99 you get 40lbs of the stuff, and sometimes they run specials with the PetSmart card to get an extra buck or two off.

That $13 may be more expensive, but you're paying for the conveninece of having a place in the neighborhood and not another empty storefront.

Default Frugal

Free cats have cost me a fortune.

I buy Soft Paws at Shoprites, about $4. for 20 lb's of the scooper and less for regular.

I have used cedar chips as it retards fleas and other insects, and smells good.
It is packaged in a cubic yard as pet bedding.
It takes a LOT of room to store. I used to get it at K-Mart for $7. but if I caught the sale, $5..

I have also used shreded news paper, it is what the vet suggested when the were nuetered. Didn't want sand in the incision.

Cats can be trained to use the toilet.

"Girls" are 19 this year, that's a lotta' litter!!!!

Not good enough, bg. Any time there is a viable store in my neighborhood replacing an empty storefront, I rejoice... but not so much that I'm willing to pay an exorbitant amount for something that my cat is gonna use to poop in.
