I don't think there's any links. The printed Legal Notice is on page D9 on the Inky's sports section, around a bunch of other similar notices for other parts of the city.
The Notice of Pbulic Hearing for 51st & Baltimore Avenue Urban Renewal Area says, as they all say, that with provisions of the Housing and COmmunity Developement Act of 1977 and Urban Redevelopmetn Law of 1945, a public hearing will be held at Room 400 of City Hall at 10 a.m. on Monday, Une 6. (I think they all have same public hearing time.) To present views on 1st Amended Redevelopment Proposal and First Amedned Urban Renewal Plan as prepared by the City PLanning COmmission. acquisition of of 24 vacant structures and lots for instituional and related resues. The properties sto be acquired are: South 51st Street 728, 730, 732, 734, 736, 738, 739, 741 Baltimore Avenue 5040, 5042, 5043, 5044, 5045, 5046, 5047, 5048, 5049, 5050, 5100-5106, 5108, 5110, 5112, 5114, 5116 Then it states it is the intenton of the authority to condemn the properties, however subject to approval of city council and funds. Any properties not being proposed for acquisition and clearance are not to be acquired under this Redevelopment Propsoal and Renewal Plan The one for 45th and Sansom is similar except it's the Third Amended Propsoal and PLan and is for the 46th and Sansom, not 45th, even though it's titled 45th and it claims 11 properties for residential and related resuses Sansom St 4612, 4613, 4614, 4616, 4618, 4619, 4620 South 46th Street 122, 127, 129, 131 The proposals are the office of the Redevelopmetn Authority of the City, 1234 Market St, 16thFloor and available for public inspection. |

Thanks so much GPD.
It sounds like you can kiss all of those red brick barn shaped houses on Baltimore and 51st except for the laundromat on the corner goodbye, as well as the shells between the Health Center and 51st St., but MiaLou and Kulture are safe. Its odd, the owner of 5040 just had a crew cleaning it out all last week. They had even started to replace a couple of windows. Fateen at Kulture had heard they were going to put in a hair salon. After letting the building sit for so many years what awful time to start rehabbing the building. I am extremely relieved nonetheless. |

I don't know what the plan for 46th and Sansome but as I recall there a bunch of abandonned small apartment buildings (the ones with the large patios on each floor) right around there. If i were to take a wild guess I would imagine that the same developer who is more or less completely redoing the 4400 and 4500 blocks of Sansome might just working their way down the street. I will say they are doing some really nice rehabs on those other blocks of Sansome.

Here's a shot of what those buildings basically look like based on MiaLou.
Actually when Volguus was taking this shot he was standing in front of some of those storefronts but you can get a feel for the buildings basic design from this picture of the buildings across the street. MiaLou is at the end of the strip. Not necessarily anything to write home about but I think it is fair to say they don't build dense strips of storefronts like this anymore. The potential for rehab/ infill on ablock like this I think generally outstrips what you get from new construction, in terms of buildking walkable shopping strips. ![]() |

that's what they're tearing down? there are buidlings in far worse shape than that in this city. seems highly questionable to me. she has been pushing for this for years.
