What to do with furniture...

Remember, if you have old furniture that you do not want, do not leave it on
the street or you may be fined by the City!

From May 13th to June 7th, you can:
Call your landlord – they might pick it up from you directly for a nominal
fee.
Take it to the UCD’s Maintenance Shop, 4056 Powelton Avenue from 11 am to 4
pm, Monday to Friday.
Call University City District at 1-888-416-4505 for pick-up only, Monday to
Friday.

Do not put furniture in dumpsters! They are for trash only!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
-USE CLEAR BAGS WHENEVER POSSIBLE so trash pickers can window shop and not
rip apart bags (Ask your landlord or UCD for bags).
-Put trash out on the REGULAR or SPECIAL City trash collection days OR take
the trash to the dumpsters. DO NOT leave your trash on the sidewalk at any
other time or your will be fined by the City.
-Do not leave your trash in your apartment, hallway or on the porch. Take
your trash to a dumpster. Dumpsters are for trash only – NOT FURNITURE.

Questions? Call University City District at 215-243-0555.

Brought to you by the University City District, the City of Philadelphia’s
Streets Department, Campus Apartments, University City Associates,
University City Housing, Sherman Properties, Penn’s Office of Off-Campus
Living, Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, and office of Facility Services.

Penn move-out day is famous for UCity residents to benefit from the lack of planning and togetherness of many relatively wealthy Penn undergrads. My wife once found a large bag of essentially new high-end women's shoes, exactly her size. I think it was about 12 pairs, averaging $200-$300 a pair, all basically unscuffed and new out of the box. She split the spoils with our next door neighbor who also wore the same size.

Talking M.O.D. Squad (Move-Out Drive)

Here's a flash from Jeff William, Founder of the University of Pennsylvania M.O.D. Squad (Move-Out Drive) --

We are a student-run group at Penn that holds a Move-out drive every May for students that are packing up to go home for the summer. Instead of throwing away many useful items, we collect them and donate them to the West Philadelphia community members and organizations who are in need. For more information, please see our website at www.sas.upenn.edu/~jhw2.

All of these items will be available for pick-up at the Northeast corner of 42nd and Chestnut on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (4/7-4/9) from 9am-4pm. Everything is entirely free and I would please encourage you to tell your friends and stop by to see if you'd like anything!

Thank you very much and I look forward to meeting you!

UC should start a tradition of having some sort of gigantic block party celebrating the move out of Penn students. Granted, they drive the economy of UC, but some of them sure are annoying.
