Default What Are The Neighborhoods Of West Philadelphia?

Myself, I'd consider West Philadelphia to be everything in the city on the west side of the Schuylkill River and above Baltimore Avenue, which is the traditional dividing line between West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Off the top of my head, neighborhoods that comprise West Philly are:

University City
Spruce Hill
Cedar Hill
Haddington
Mantua
Mill Creek
Overbook
Overbrook Farms
Wynnefield
Powelton Village

Anyone else want to throw anything in?

Overbrook Park? Cobbs Creek?

Don't know if those are official neighborhoods, but when I was looking at real estate those were names that popped up.

Oh yeah, Squirrel Hill. Yes it's south of Baltimore, but if you're far enough east, we include you. Plus you counted Cedar Park.

Oh wait, you said Cedar Hill. Is that the same thing?

And while we're on the smaller "neighborhood w/in the neighborhood" kick, Woodland Terrace.

I've never heard the designation Cedar Hill. There are no inclines on Cedar at all really. There was an attempt to divide of Cedar Park below Baltmore as Squirrel Hill but there isn't much of a hill there either. We do have a mini-police substation and a park that sorely needs some repairs and is never open with that name though.

Belmont and Mantua often get lumped together as neighboring areas with similar problems but they are usually considered separately, in terms neighborhood organizations, etc.

Default Cedar Park and Squirrel Hill

Not that anyone's looking at this thread anymore, but Cedar Park includes all territory from 46th to 52nd, from Larchwood to the north down to the R3 Septa rail line and Kingsessing Ave to the south. Squirrel Hill, a fairly inactive community in terms of organization, also includes territory within Cedar Park, I think all south of Chester and down to Woodland.

Not sure if anybody cares, but the city's NTI websites lists the following neighborhoods in the area that would roughly comprise West Philly. Though the southern boundary is a litlte hard for me to figure from the map, so I just included everything west of the Schuykill, which would include Southwest Philly, too. Some of hte neighborhoods are pretty small--there was an Angora reference in the Inqy last week that got me curious about these mini-designations.

http://www.phila.gov/nti/neighborhoodcorner.htm

It lists:
19 Eastwick
20 Elmwood
21 Pashcall
21 Pashcall
22 Kingsessing
23 Southwest Schuylkill
24 Cobbs Creek
25 Walnut Hill
26 Cedar Park
27 Spruce Hill
28 University City
29 Powelton Village
30 Mantua
31 Belmont
32 Mill Creek
33 Haddington
34 Overbrook
35 Carroll Park
36 West Parkside
37 Wynnefield
38 Wynnfield Heights

110 Woodland Terrace
111 Garden Court
112 Dunlap
113 West Powelton
114 East Parkside
115 Haverford North
116 SW Cedar Park

126 Penrose
127 Bartram Village
128 Angora

Thanks, gpd, this is actually one of the only lists of neighborhoods that includes a mpa that I have stumbled across so far online. I'll repeat the names you listed with the graphic of the map for folks to look at.
