There are some people both white and black who just don't like living next to people who are not like them, its true. Prejudice is a funny multi-dimensional thing. I've heard as many anecdotes about long-time African American residents voicing resentment at African, West Indian, and South East Asian immigrants moving into their neighborhood as at white people. Most people, IMO, judge their nighbors by how they act rather than how they look but you are welcome to argue otherwise.
The point I was trying to raise was someone's views of gentrification are inherently dependent on what position they occupy in the process... I may be a yuppie, hipster, or whatever to amiraha but amiraha might be the same for people further west.

Race may play a part in that perception and it may not.

If one views gentrification as bad should they consider their part in the process? I mean, yuppies are supposed to mark the end of the gentrification process.
