odragon: Citizens Bank is open weekends. Don't know about all their branches, but at least the one on 34th by Penn is open Saturdays. You can get the hours by going to citizens.com and using the branch locator.

You're in South Philly, right? There appear to be 3 in that part of town:
2001 S. Broad (at McKean) 2540 S. 24th (at Oregon) 330 Oregon (Whitman Plaza) All 3 branches have Saturday and Sunday hours. Info here: http://www.citizensbank.com/tools/branch/mqlocator.asp |

If U City is approaching full occupancy, why are there few services? How come stores have a hard time staying open?
Abbracio brunch was ok, and RX was decent. Nothing I would invite my parents too. Quote:

Even if the neighborhood itself, a lot of people buy into the "never look West of . . ." thing so they undervalue what is already in the neighborhood. Every day that MiaLou is open literaly 1/3 of the people that walk in the door ask "How long have you guys been here? I never noticed this place ebefore" even though we have been opened for more than a year. There are lots of services available in the neighborhood and available a competitive prices but since many of the newcomers to the neighborhood are used to suburban style shopping they automatically leave the neighborhood to buy stuff that available more conveniently and in higher quality right here in the neighborhood. I bet a lot of people having a barbeques in the neighborhood would never even consider going to the Firehouse to buy their meat or fish, even though you might be able to get better quality cuts at a better price right in the neighborhood, all the while supporting local faimly businesses instead of chains. I don't think UCity is alone in this problem, i think it is a common "growing pain" for businesses in neighborhoods that have recently "improved". Fashionable pubs and BYO's aside - I knew that NoLibs had arrived when they got a brand new local bank branch on N. 2nd St. |
