Default 45th and Market

Considering a place there.

So, age old questions, safe for single female?

Google maps street view doesn't look all that appetizing.

Any advice?

Thanks!

I don't think it's unsafe, instead I would say it has more to do with your comfort level.

That would depend on what I need to be comfortable with.

Details?

Both areas, 45th and Market and/or...

Oh, I see, I tried to edit my first post and it didn't take... I'm also looking at Warren and Spring Garden.

Simply put - Market Street is a main commercial thoroughfare - so not as much a tight-knit family block you might find in other areas of West Philly. When things close up for the night, there's less foot traffic and therefore is what most would call "sketchy". It wouldn't be my first choice. I think Spring Garden and Warren is a better bet, though I'm not as familiar with that corner.

living on a block/in a neighborhood that is for the most part run-down, urban and populated by poor black folks.

in my opinion, this applies to both warren and spring garden & 45th and market.

Not such a nice area. Especially with the ongoing El construction.

Drive through there around 11pm and see how you feel. personally, I wouldn't want to live there, and I live off 45th.

I currently live in Indiana and will be moving to Philly to work in UCity. So I can't do a drive-by.

It's not terrible, but I wouldn't recommend it. You can find something better.
