Default utility options

I am moving to the area in June and am looking at various utility options. It seems that while PECO is the primary electric supplier that there are other options. Does anyone use a company other than PECO?

Am I correct that Philadelphia Gas Works is the only gas company?

Do you have any recommendations for internet and cable tv providers?

Also, in terms of cell phone signals, does Cingular/AT&T get good reception?

Thank you.

There are other options, but PECO owns the lines so you end up paying them anyway. What this means in practice is that PECO is generally the cheapest game in town.

Yes.

For cable, your only choice in most of the city is Comcast, although satelite is obviously an option for TV. For landline and/or DSL, Verizon is the primary provider, with a similar arrangement to PECO as far as owning the lines that other providers may use.

All of the major providers will get good reception throughout the area.
