Default Selling homemade goods

Just wondering if anyone was familiar with selling homemade goods in and around the neighborhood. I know the carrot cake guy sells his goods walking down the street (and in lee's?). Does anyone know where he makes it? At home? In a certified kitchen (by the Health Dept)?

How about food sold at the Farmer's Market. I bought cookies there once.

I am investigating selling homemade cookies out of my house, just for fun to neighbors and friends. Didn't want to run into any law issues, but people can't seem to get enough of my cookies.

Thanks for any advice in advance,
BF

Shouldn't be too much trouble depending on what kind of quantity your talking about.
here are a few ideas....

-Check with a local luch cart or corner store to see if they will sell them for you.

-Try setting up a spot at first friday in old city

-Likewise with the italian market

-Local coffe shop

Most luck will be had at a "mom & pop" owned store
Good luck!

My wife used to do this. Mariposa coop may be a good place to look (but they may only sell goods from members) and Sam's also used to be a good place to sell homemade goodies.

In order to sell goods in Philly, legally you will need an inspection of your kitchen by the health dept, a business license for the city (I forget what its called exactly) and possibly a certificate that you completed a training course about food safety.

Most Farmer's Markets will require proof that you've satisfied these requirements before you can sell.

These guidelines also only generally apply for folks who ask for permission
