Hi, I just looked at a house on the 5100 block of Catharine St. The block seems nice given its proximity to less-developed areas to the W and SW, but I know it can be block to block around here. I saw in an earlier thread that the 5000 block is quite livable. Does anyone have any comments on this one?

I know a couple on that block, and they seem to like it just fine. I haven't heard any complaints from them.

it's not as nice as the block to the east

no but really, it's a nice neighborhood, close proximity to many parks and some great restaurants.

the only bad things might be that you are a little close to 52nd street and many take-out beer stores and the fact that the Third World Lounge is located on Catharine so I often witness cars speeding west on Catharine (probably a lot of drunk drivers) in the wee hours of the morning.
