Phillybud, you say the price is too steep AND there are too many houses? Wow. As far as schlepping to all of those houses, I've been on tours with elderly women who do it with relative ease. And 25$ is pretty much standard fee for an afternoon's worth of activity. How can you complain? I think it's well worth the cost but that's just me.

It should be noted that the $25 fee includes snacks and beverages too.

Good Lord, Powelton isn't big enough for shlepping! One good shlep and you're 3/4 of the way to the Zoo or HUP!

I am sorry for being such a kvetch. It's just the costs of things are getting me down. I'm not a schnorrer you know. Maybe I'll break down and buy a $25 ticket for the tour. Oy.

Sorry, I wasn't making fun of you about the cost of the event. If money's tight then that is a problem. But I would beg, borrow and steal to get the money for this tour. I just hope the weather cooperates a little (please, Rain Gods, hold off until Saturday evening).

We're preparing for the worst at this point. While rain would undoubtedly hurt attendence, it also means that many of the gardens won't be shown. Additionally, there is the added headache of having 100 people with wet shoes walk through the house. Oh well, we'll make the best of it!

If you're asking if Powelton Village will have more house tours, the answer is certainly yes. However, it will most likely be several years before another is organized. It takes a lot of work to put on one of these on.

The Friends of Independence National Park are offering other tours. The Twins of West Philly Tour is today.

The Philadelphia Open House Tours have, on average, about 40 tours per year so there's always something of interesting year in, year out.
