Default Drexel starting a bikeshare program

From the SEPTA Watch blog.

Quote:
SEPTA's getting a little competition this month as Drexel University opens its Bike Share program.
Students will now be able to participate in Drexel Bike Share, an alternative to taking SEPTA or keeping a car on campus.
Drexel Parking Services, through the Power of Ten program, will allow students to rent bikes for a weekday or an entire weekend free of charge.

Drexel Bike Share is available to all students in good standing, as well as faculty and staff. ... There are currently ten TREK Lime bikes available on a "first come, first served" basis. The bikes come with a helmet, U-lock, cable and lock key. All of the bikes have adjustable seats, coaster breaks, and an automatic three-speed gear system according to the Drexel Bike Share announcement.
For more information, check out their website.

Meanwhile, efforts to create a Philly-wide bike share are growing. City Council is set to hold a hearing on a "Public Use Bicycle Program" on April 30 at 2pm. Can't make the hearing but want to support bike sharing in Philly? Check out Bike Share Philadelphia's website to send an email to Mayor Nutter.

Case in point.

Private industry will handle it fine. No need for City Hall to start a new company.

Agreed. The city needs to get its "EMS" and "Fairmount Park" programs working right, among others, before it starts talking about a "Bikeshare" program.

Dumb City and the dumbasses supposedly in charge. Pie-in-the-sky bullshit, and the stuff that needs to be worked on quickly...languishes. I need that button where I can be in charge for a month or 6 and fix some things.
