Default Porch renovation recommendations?

Hello,

Our porch needs a renovation. We currently have the metal posts and rails, but I'm looking to get Victorian style posts and porch components. Recommendations for the parts and/or installation?

Thanks.

I found some good column replicas at Worthington (on-line). They are a polyresin and structural.

Louis cut all the millwork needed to recreate the soffit line.

Michael Guess Fine Carpentry did the installation.

Have not done the handrail yet - but have used Louis for interior spindles so imagine he can make exterior spindles.

They've done tons of porches, windows, shutters and doors in the area. They do a fantastic job and back up their work.

Default My porch also needs renovating

My porch needs some restoration, too. Particularly the ballisters(?) - you know, the spindles that support the front hand rail. I managed to save but one original one from my c. 1895 Victorian ... the originals are so much nicer than what Home Depot offers.

By the way, I hear the University City Historic District people offer local homeowners low interest loans if they are doing improvements to the porches or facades of their historic homes; and they recommend contracters as well. Anyone know more about this?

The place I recommended above can do custom work and can replicate just about anything so if you have the original they could recreate it.
