Maybe it has just been luck of the draw. I hope you're right and next time I get my beer and pizza faster with less hassle

I've never had bad service myself (aside from staff not really knowing the beers, but I'm picky about that kind of stuff so I can let it slide) but I have heard several horror stories of bad service/forgetful waitstuff. I have also noticed bartenders playing favorites, but that happens in pretty much every bar, unfortunately.

The Sudan Grass beer on deck to come on tap next has my interest piqued. Its a sourgum beer based on taditional African "beers" but with hops to spice it up. It will be wheat and gluten free for all you crazy GF types who normally can't drink beer.

I'm very curious.

I'm a little worried about this new beer. I've never had a good sorghum beer. both Redbridge by AB and New Grist by Lakefront are just terrible, imo.

I'm all for trying new things and experimenting (Saint Albans was very good), and maybe Dock Street will set a precedent and brew the first good sorghum beer, but I'm not keeping my fingers crossed.

I've mentioned it on this thread a few times, but I couldn't agree more. The service here is so consistently poor it's really astounding. Sometimes it seems that the staff is just not good or cutout for the job. But on one recent trip, there were only two servers for the whole place, and it was packed. How could they possibly give me good service?

That being said, I keep going back because it's close, the food is good, and the beer is usually pretty nice.

While I was at Dock Street last night they opened the taps on the sorghum. I think it was called Sudan Grass? Anyway, it was pretty miserable. It was also warm, but I can't imagine refrigeration making it any better.

Yeah, I'm curious but I'll wait and see. In terms of the "experimental" stuff, i think the Chamomileon - the chamomile wit beer is actually pretty good.

yeah I want to try the Chamomile Wit. should give Walt Wit a run for it's money in the Philly market.

I didn't like the Summer Session at all.

We ended up drinking a pitcher of the Chamomile and I think it is a great summer brew. Better than the Victory sunrise, which has been my favorite local seasonal for a while.

The Summer Session was just OK.

I don't mean to slag off what I think is a great contribution to our neighborhood, but the last pizza we got "to go" had a root beer bottle cap on it.

Yeah, no ****, a bottle cap. I'm going to have to think pretty long and hard about getting another pizza there.

And that pisses me off. I'm a pretty avid food-guy for lack of a better word, and I would love to support this place. but I've never, ever knowingly had a piece of garbage on my food before. A bottle cap (of a beverage they don't even make) on my pizza is WAY out of line.
