Are you going to Phila. University area on Wissahickon? I would go north on 46th, right on Haverford, left on 44th, which turns into Belmont, and then Belmont all the way out to Cityline Ave, take a right there and you will be to the Rt.1 Highway without having to deal with 76 during rush hour.

Thumbs up Yup

I did the reverse of this for over a year (i.e. City Ave area down to Univ. City) and this is the best route I found. It might not be car-free but it's consistent at least.
