I live around 45th & Locust. How can I get a taxi without waiting for hours on the street? I tried to call them in advance but they told me they don't take advance reservations. If I call 15 mins before I need it they say it takes 90 mins to pick me up.
Sometimes I only need a taxi to go elsewhere in UC. Is there a taxi company located in UC?Thanks for any help! |

Yeah, I've found that walking down to Chestnut or Walnut is the best way to get a cab. Market also has some, but not as many. In the 2 or 3 times I've caught a cab, I've never waited more than 5-10 min.

![]() Just kidding - going to Walnut or so would probably be best just like the others said. |

call a different cab company. the time limit thing was recently introduced, but i have no iea if it's a city regulation or just highly suggested. the yellow pages , tho antiquated, are your friends in this case.
if all the cab companies give you the same story, just wander up to a main street - chestnut/walnut/spruce - and hail one the old fashioned way. |

There is usually a plethora of cabs at 46th and Baltimore at the no-name gas station. The also frequent some of the restaurants on the 4500 block of Baltimore - Calabasse - Blue Nile - Queen Shebba - Pier One Cafe.
One thing that I do sometimes is after getting a ride - I get the cabbie's cell phone #. If they give it to you - you can call them directly - it is much easier especially when it is busy. That is of course if they are not too far away. But if you get 3 or 4 different #'s than usually one of them will be around. |
