Default House Break In 12:30am at 46th and Spruce

Well, it's the first time I'm posting. Sorry to say, someone tried to break in my house by taking the window a/c out at 12:30am. We were going to take the a/c units out last weekend but didn't bc of the rain. The unit is above a person's reach so they used something to hoist themselves up 4 extra feet. I called 911 and they took off before the police arrived.

It was scary bc we have a baby in the house and one on the way.

The police came quickly and were nice. One of them even suggested we buy a gun..........

Thanks to the recent posts on burglaries, I didn't mistake the noise when they came in for the neighbors on the other side of the twin.

I'm glad everything is ok. Do you live on Spruce or 46th because I'm on Spruce closer to 47th.

Thanks

I live on Spruce. From what I've read, they've also had problems toward 47th as well http://philly.everyblock.com/streets...713s/?radius=8

The neighbors want to start a block email list to put neighbors on notice.

I also noticed this morning while patrolling the basement that they tried to dismantle the basement door. Our hinges are on the outside but the previous owner installed hefty iron grids over the door window and security pegs along the door that lock into the frame to prevent someone from removing the door by taking the hinges off. I guess when that didn't work, they went for the window.

Anyone see a large moving truck with the back hatch open and about 4 very sketchy characters in the back going around the Clark Park area? I'm wondering if the scheme includes looking like movers or other workers (goes with the theme mentioned with the dude and his waterless bucket.)

Default Yup

I think i saw that truck last week on 23rd and Fitz. I saw a van with what looked like phone books in back and a bunch of people who all seemed sketch. At the time, i chuckled and thought, "huh - philly's got character." i guess i might have seen something a bit more problematic than that.

You can sign up for the listserv here. I actually can't stand being on it because you get so much ridiculous mail too. My friend is on it and sends me any stuff of interest.

I saw the same truck a few times during the day about a week ago, around 13th & Carpenter...maybe they're actually just delivering phone books that nobody needs anymore.. our building had a huge stack in the front vestibule, so..

There were 3 cars broken into yesterday on 41st St between Market and Ludlow.

Just a heads up to those who park in the area.
