To whomever is posting about the property on 49th St... (I don't know which the proper address is because it was inverted, 704/407.)
Just as the realtor from O'Donnell mentioned, anyone can look up property info on the BRT website: (http://brtweb.phila.gov/brt.apps/Sea...spx?url=search) they are public records, unfortunately I tried both 704 and 407 and there is no listing for either. Are you sure of the address? The neighborhood I currently live in is has similar activity (out of someone's home though - my immediate neighbor - lucky me) and the best I have been able to do is make noise complaints. It might be easier for me to do in Kensington since my block is almost all residential and the 'events' always seem to occur post-1am, but I've also had support from other neighbors, so I have that in my favor. Another prominent realtor in west philly is Common Ground, I know, I am currently buying a house from them in this general vicinity so I am curious about this because it may directly effect me. Maybe they could give you a better lead on the property owner. However, it doesn't sound like anything illegal has actually been witnessed here, and since you can't exactly convict or arrest someone on a hunchmaybe you could just keep your feelers out for an actual incident (and in the interim don't let it make you paranoid.) Your observations are greatly appreciated but bear in mind that there are lots of 'elders' giving advice about getting out of the thug life that might not be doing anything illegal, and quite possibly they are doing just the opposite. I wonder if you could involve the University City District or any of the community organizations in this matter? Maybe if it is some sort of support group situation you could ask their affiliation... |

hello,
we have been living here for just under a month, just moved from frisco (please no "why would anyone do that" posts, the question is already going through my head right about now..) walking home last night from the diy philly meeting we were robbed by a guy who probably just had his fist in his sweater to give the impression of a gun, but i wasn't about to take my chances to find out. it was just after 10 pm, like the subject header said warrington near 48th, an area that according to the map on phillycrime.org is pretty quiet as far as that sort of thing goes. male, african american, average height, a bit stocky, shaky from probable drug withdrawl, 30's to early 40's age. |

so sorry to hear about that -- how scary. that's right around the corner from my new apartment. not cool.
i hate to say it, but i just moved from bella vista for a bigger place and lower rent, and as great as this area can be and as much as i love my new place, i no longer feel like it's OK to walk around after the sun sets without lots of company. which i don't have, since they all live on the other side of the river. crap. |

Sorry to hear about it StevenT. Give us a chance, you'll like it here. Most SF transplanters usually do.
The Fuzz gave me some advice for my daughter, who lives in Powelton Village because of school--carry some pepper spray, it will at least give you an opportunity to get away.

I was sorry to hear about this! I got mugged at 46th and Pine about a year and a half ago (the perps were caught with trial next month). After that, I've felt a lot less comfortable walking around at night. I'm more likely to make use of the trolley, the buses, a cab, or get rides in people's cars.
I hope you filed a police report. I know it can be aggravating, but it will give them more to go against him with if they bust him. You might also PM The Fuzz. Quote:
