A few days ago, somebody on the UC Listserv reported a person with a gun at 43rd & Spruce, so I thought I'd pass that along.

A while back, I also saw a young black male with a a drawstring backpack near 42nd & Walnut who I suspect may have been carrying a gun. I didn't see it, but he was threatening a couple kids on bikes in such a way that it made me suspicious (I think they must have done something to him as they rode by on the sidewalk. It ended with the bicycle kids assuring him they "meant no disrespect" and riding away).

Default Body (?) in 5700 block of Vine

I was driving up 58th street this afternoon about 1:45 pm and as I crossed Vine street there were a number of police cars and a fire truck heading toward the scene. I just got a glimpse, but there was someone lying motionless in the westbound lane of Vine st. between 57th and 58th. When I drove back by an hour later, there was no police tape or anything like that. Anyone know what happened?

Default Man searching cars

This morning around 6:45 a.m. there was a man going walking down the 4600 block of Larchwood inspecting all the cars. As we were beginning to call the police, he took a package off a neighbors door step. I opened the window and yelled at him to drop it, but he took off. We called the police but they didn't show up for 20-30 minutes and he was long gone.

Do you have a description of him?

Question Question for TheFuzz Re: Car Alarms

Detective:

Do car alarms really help prevent car theft? I hear them go off all the time and no one so much as turns a head since they are so commonly set off by bumps from parallel parking, etc. I can pretty much sing along with most of them by now.

Just curious.

As far as a deterent i would say yes they do. I, like many, don't pay attention to car alarms when they go off in my neighborhood in the afternoon. I would surely check on the car alarm if it was at 300am in an area that has been hit hard recently though.

I would say yes though about the prevention of thefts.
