They have some brutal taxes up there. Might even be worse than Philly's, if you can believe that.

I think I read somewhere that some guy bought a house in... I forget, Rockville, Germantown or something... and had to pay something like $50k in nicke-and-dime taxes (several thousand to get running water hooked up, etc).

Default Michael Nutter--please take note

I agree--the Fuzz's presence on this board is a great community asset and great community relations for the police department. I also hope that Michael Nutter takes note.

I just want to say thanks to the residents of Philadelphia for what they have done over the past week. The support, prayers, and kind gestures have been unreal. Sometimes police officers get into a rut and feel that everyone is out to get them...media, judges etc. It's sad but it takes something like the death of Chuck Cassidy to make us snap out if it and come together.

I am proud of my department and the citizens of Philadelphia. I feel a change coming. Something good. The election of Michael Nutter brings hope. The death of P/O Cassidy, while tragic, showed the lengths people and police will go to bring a murderer to justice. Together I think we can change this city. It's happening now. People are sick of crime. Police officers are sick of crime.

A change for the better is coming.....I feel it.

If I am totally off base, please, let me know. I would love to hear how you all feel.
Fuzz, you make us all proud. Thank you.

The Fuzz's comments are reassuring and give me hope.

Let us all remember that regular citizens also must join the police, government etc to bring change.

We can all be change agents. My deepest thanks to those who have already realized this.

Does anyone know what's going down on the 4800 block of warrington? There's Police tape in front of this one house, but I don't see any officers around.
It's kinda creepy, as I just got home.

Default 4800 Warrington Shooting

I live in the buiding where this happened, here's a post from another member:

4800 Warrington Shooting
Just wanted to let you know there was a shooting in front of my friend's house at 4813 Warrington tonight at 6pm. A young man was shot in the leg by two black teenaged males with a sawed off shotgun. The young man shot was walking toward 48th when they approached him
demanding money. He told them he didn't have anything on him and from what I understand showed them he had nothing. They shot him in the leg and ran off down 49th treet. One kid had on a red sweater. The man shot crawled onto my friend's porch and tried to ring doorbells. My friend and her boyfriend heard the gunshot, called the police and ran down stairs to find this man bleeding on their porch. The police responded quickly and the young ma was taken to HUP.

be safe

Default Willows Avenue

Anyone know what was going on around Willows Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday? Saw seven to ten police cruisers driving up and down the Willows from 50th to 52nd and spotlighting houses before a couple drove down the street in reverse and headed south toward Pentridge.

Seemed like they were looking for someone.

Any relation to the shooting over on Warrington?

Any information about an incident at intersection of Sansom and Farragut last night? I came home about 1 AM last night and there were 3-4 cruisers and I heard a lot of shouting. There have been at least 4 incidents at that corner over the past 4 months.
I live on the 4500 block of Sansom. Anyone else live in this area? I'd be interested in a neigborhood watch, clean-up, etc.

I got mugged there in late september. Reported it to the cops, looked at a few mugshots, haven't found the perps (they were young, probably still in middle school, but they had a gun, so i gave them my cash.)

I have no idea what happened, but I'd also be interested to know and to get involved in some kind of neighborhood watch. Sansom st. seems to be plagued by this kind of stuff (my friend got mugged just outside of her apartment on 42nd and sansom.)
