And some of the jumpers end up six feet deep.

Many, many thanks to the Friends of the Wissahickon (and any others) who clean up this spot and the surrounding trails. I'm always amazed what a beautiful, relatively clean place the Wissahickon Gorge is being so close to Center City Phila.

There were people that had about 50 pounds worth of grilling materials. You couldn't go 2 minutes w/o seeing someone rolling a joint, people were drinking 40's and jumping off cliffs into the pool...One extremely stupid kid actually jumped from the bridge (that I would say is easily 50-60 feet high) that goes over the hole. After that point we decided to leave, because if anyone else was going to try to prove their manhood by jumping off the bridge, we didn't want to see them crush their head open. Other than that one point I can't really say whether the experience out there was good or bad....it just seemed surreal.
It's funny, I was there the other day and saw the same exact thing. Then I looked at the date on your post. Wow, things don't change at all over time. We left after the pot started to be smoked. Nothing more sad than watching the mother holding a baby in one arm, smoking pot with the other arm watching her kids jump off the rocks into the water.

Ahh, I love devil's pool. I took a friend there and the two of us went swimming like a week ago. Was a bit of people there but not as bad as I have seen it in the past. I was pretty happy it was relatively tame. During the months when no one is around I love to just walk there and sit for awhile. My house is about a 30 min walk (I live a block away from an access point to forbidden drive) to the pool.

The memories though, lol. I had a young friend (18) that proposed there a few years ago. It was night tho so no one was around. She said yes but there relationship was so insane that they eventually broke up. Havent seen him in about 2 years but from what I understand he is still in love with her even though she avoids him.

Too bad that people do leave all there trash and graffiti there. They don't care they are in the middle of the woods and shouldn't trash it like they do their own homes. Not to mention they have no regard for the fact that they are technically on someones property. I caught them finally cutting through the really tough fence that was rebuilt on that bridge up there. I had mixed feelings about it as I used to sit up there and just watch. Whether it was people or just tree's it was something I missed but I also understood why the fence was there. The reason I said finally was because they ended up putting a much stronger and harder to cut through fence up there and I am pretty sure it took them a year to get through it.

Memories......

Kerri
