does anyone know of a lake (or pond) that you can go swimming in that is within an hour's drive of the city? thanks in advance!

Lake Oswego or Atsion Lake are both in South Jersey.

Garrison Lake, S. Jersey (cedar lake) - 55 S. gets you close to the lake, short drive from exit. Bellmawr is closest, but manmade if that matters to ya, nice little tiki bar they put in a few years ago and again, minutes from WW Bridge.

A few summer's back we used to go to Washington Lake in Washington Township, NJ. It is very clean!
