Default camping/hiking/rafting

Hi My friend and I want to place a camping trip 4 hours or less from philly. Anyone recommend a beautiful area to hike and do numerous water activities? Any recommendations for a great campsite? I would love to reseach it to make the most of our time so any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Hickory Run State Park in White Haven is nice. You can bike the trail along the Lehigh River, or go white water rafting.

Similar options for Ohiopyle, PA (and the Youghiegheny River), but "Falling Water" and another Frank Lloyd Wright house is nearby for touring. There's a natural water slide there as well. That's about a 5-hour drive from Philly though, but well worth it.

There's a lot of places along the Delaware as well, such as the Delaware Water Gap.

There's also several NY State Parks around Bear Mountain NY that are real nice. That's about 3 hours. Harriman has lakes and camping, and the Hudson River isn't far. Great hiking.

I went to RG last spring and really enjoyed it. Our campsite was on a lake (but the pads were concrete, which I didn't love. I like set up the tent on the ground). But the main draw is the 21 waterfalls. We got in a really great hike looking at them all. I think the drive was about three hours.

Hickory Run is just under 2 hours, in the heart of the Poconos. You can camp & hike trails there, and they have a massive boulder field worth seeing (bigger than a football field)

About 2-3 more hours past Hickory Run is the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. You can hike from Turkey Hill all the way to the bottom.

Pine Creek Outfitters offers info for campsites, they also rent canoes, bikes, rafts for the Pine creek.

Also, there is lots to do in the town of Wellsboro, which is before the grand canyon.

There's also cabins in Atsion Lake Park in NJ, and camping in some of the Pine Barrens along various rivers. Check out Belhaven Canoes or Micks for rentals & camping info. Less than 2 hours from Philly.
