Carolina and another weekend of some incredible sports! I love this time of year! Is it me or has this been one of the best years for playoff football in quite some time?

No, it is not just you playoff football has been absolutely HOT! This game was much closer than I like, and I did get sick of seeing the ball at the feet of so many receivers, but when push came to shove...McNabb pulled it out. I really don't want us to see indy if we make it that far!

This was a stressful game, that's for sure. The offense looked an awful lot like its tenative self of last season, and per usual we had problems on defense with the run. I was worried from the beginning about GB ... but we made it.

What was with Favre's interception in OT? I am still in disbelief that that even happened. Who was that QB???

There was absolutely a glint in Reid's eyes during the press conference. I think he's starting to see Houston.

I'm still stunned. I'm thrilled the Eagles came back and won the game, but I can't believe the 4th and 26 play. Philly teams never make those plays, at least not in my lifetime.

I'm much more confident of the Eagles beating Carolina than I was last year against Tampa Bay, but I'm not getting as excited as last year. I was miserable for a week after that loss, so I'm not going to get overconfident again.

Donovan McNabb's biography should be titled "A Tale of Two Quarterbacks." It's the best of times and the worst of times with him, often in the same game. Sacked eight times, 1-7 in his first seven attempts, consistently throwing passes into the turf, and then he saves the day with that do-or-die 4th-and-26 play. We eke out a victory in a game in which he sets an NFL record for QB rushing. Nothing comes easy in this town. There's a reason Rocky Balboa is the icon of Philadelphia sports.

Oh, and "hot" isn't the word I'd use to describe the game. It was colder than a witch's teat at the Linc last night. The foam in my beer kept crystallizing, turning it into a beer Slurpee (which is something 7-11 might want to consider offering if it is to win back market share from Wawa).

When I first saw that stat in the paper this morning, I thought that was way too many. However, watching Daily News Live right now, one of the writers brings up a very good point.

Even before yesterday's game, Farve had a tendency to heave the ball when the pressure was on and more often than not, one of his receivers came down with the ball. On the flip side, there are times when the other team picks them off.

On the other hand, you have McNabb, who often holds on to the ball far longer than he maybe should, leading to more sacks.

Personally, I'm happier with McNabb taking a sack than pulling a Farve, in most cases. I think back to the first Dallas game this season, on the last drive of the game, for an example of an exception to the "Don't Heave It" rule.
