Quote:
PHILADELPHIA - Seana Carmean won the Philadelphia Marathon on Sunday, leading a 1-2 finish for American women.

Kenyans Joseph Nderitu and Charles Kamindo were first and second among the men. Nderitu set a course record, completing the 26.2 miles in 2 hours, 16 minutes, 47 seconds. The old mark was 2:18:03.

Carmean of Amherst, Mass., passed Deirdre Brill of Downingtown, Pa., with less than a quarter mile to go and won in 2:45:05.

Among the men, Ed Callinan (2:21:22) of Cherry Hill, N.J. and Matthew Byrne (2:21.42) were third and fourth, making late charges past two Kenyans - defending champion Mike Korir and George Kimathi.

All four Americans qualified for the U.S. Olympic marathon trials in 2004.
Did anyone run in this marathon?

No, unfortunately. My stupid foot injury meant no pre-race training, thus another year I have to wait before trying a marathon.

It was a good day for a marathon. Perfect weather, temperature-wise, which is always helpful. Congrats to all that participated in the race.

Missing out has me even more motivated for the 2004 Broad Street Run. It's only 10 miles, people! Who's with me?!

If you wanted to find out her time, this link should take you to a search page.

Congrats to her for finishing the race. No matter how quickly a person finishes it, it's a great accomplishment.
