You were trying to put them in the same category when you aid that only two QB's in Eagles History went to the SB.

JAWS was a different story in how he got there

It's pretty simple, there are WAY more crappy players than good ones. There are plenty of great players who have turned into excellent analysts - Troy Aikman and Charles Barkley just to name two.. there are many more.

One has nothing to do with the other.

Because the crappy player is the one who knows he won't play forever and he starts preparing for life after football by learning his craft unlike the superstar who hangs on way too long(Brett Farve). The mediorce player has a better view of the game and the strategy that coaches implement because theyr'e on the sidelines seeing how everything works. Thats the best seat in the house for a guy who wants to learn the game which makes him even more qualified to analyze it. You bring a better perspective to the table when you've had a chance to see the game as on the field and from the sidelines. Thats also why crappy players also make the best coaches.

Default Guessing!

Not great players: Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown... I'm guessing weren't considered great players but are three of the best coaches ever in the NBA.

Great players but didn't cut it on-air: Montana, Scottie Pippen, still doing on-air work but should probably stop, Magic Johnson and I don't think that Charles Barkley is that good either. Kenny Smith is a lot better than Charles.

Howie Long is good, as are Keyshawn Johnson, Terry Bradshaw, Troy Aikman...

Emmitt Smith, Sean Salisbury... puhleeze!

I don't care for the Dallas Cowboys, its current or ex-players at all but I really enjoyed Michael Irvin as a host. Really cannot stand Chris Berman but Irvin made me watch that show. You just never knew what would come flying out of his mouth.

Jerry Rice said that he wanted to work on TV, sports, when he retired but I don't believe that he was hired by any of them.

I bet Warren Saap would be good. He was so brutally honest as a player. Warren would probably have to tone it down a bit on TV.

Isaiah Thomas has messed up on several levels but Larry Bird has been good as a coach.

Jaws was not a "crappy player" but by no means is a legend either. The other two sucked, although, Tim Hasselback's wife is hot so he must be doing something right!!!!

Noticed you skipped 1977 to 1981, and Jaws did take The Eagles to the NFC playoffs in 1978 to 1981.
