Since this thread is not about being politically correct..I will have to say that the Pittsburgh area demographically does have a lot of inbred looking characters. I witnessed this at a recent Pens and Flyers game here in Philly. There were some Fugly lookin penguin fans! I also experienced this inbred phenomena while visiting my friend at IUP years ago where lots of students from Pitt attend! The women I'll admit are decent lookin but clingy as hell!

Malkin probably feels at home! I don't know what is scarier..his skills or his facial features?? Maybe that's why his play seems not human. He has that 'retard' strength or somethin.

Pittsburgh hasn't faced much adversity this playoff series. Ottawa was a horrible team going into the playoffs and the Rangers are not as physical as the Flyers. Pitt will have to work much harder than they have and they won't be able necessarily to get by on pure talent alone. Malkin will be key along with Fleury. Crosby can be contained by Richards who gets under his skin but Malkin is a bull. The Flyers overall have good team speed but are somewhat slow on D with Hatcher, Kukonen, and Smith. The latter two seem to be the biggest liabilities but Stevens in this series managed them better cutting down their minutes and limiting their exposure. The Flyers however backchecked well and played good D overall and attacked (kept the offensive pressure) particularly against montreal. They were able to not be conservative because they had Biron as the last line of defense. He's going to have to match his performance against Pitt and probably move it up a notch. It's going to be a fun physical series...but also more stressful for fans! Only 8 wins to Lord Stanley's Cup!
you said once we parallel but never intersect. well, we just met on full agreement (although I'm not pulling from 21 years of flyers watching, but I have watched other...ahem..cup winning teams in the past and the flyers never had what it took in my time. this is about as close as I've seen.

Pittsburgh definitely has the coolest entrance into any US city (through the Fort Pitt tunnel). That being said, it would be nice to see Crosby get his share of unsportsmanlike penalties for flipping & flopping.

He doesn't dive any more than Richards. I had someone at work today trying to tell me Crosby dives despite not knowing what jersey number he wears. People just spout from the mouth. Crosby is only 180 lbs. He's going to go down easier than other Pens players, especially considering everyone's trying to kill him. BTW nobody has ever dove as much as Bobby Clark

Pittsburgh is in no way more redneck than Philly. Anyone who who's been in a non-Center City part of the city can tell you that. The people largely look the same, except Pittsburgh is a bit more frat/jock-like and lacks Philly's eurotrash/hipster element

Crosby is 5-11, 200 pounds. Might wanna check about that spouting from the mouth bit. Did you just start following the Pens? Richards is about the same size as Sid. Briere on the other hand is 5-10, 180 pounds. Briere goes down pretty easily but he is smaller then just about everyone else on the ice. Briere is even smaller then Kapanen.

Crosby goes down pretty easily at times to draw penalties. Every player does it occasionally, but Crosby seems to do it a bit more then others.

This is true. Inbred looking white trash lives in even some of the better Philly neighborhoods. I known I've seen my fair share of them in Roxborough/Manayunk.

I know what he's listed at, and he's no bigger than 180 or 185, regardless of what they say. Evidence that Crosby dives....? He skates very hard on his edges to make very sharp turns and cuts, and he takes on defenders at full speed more than anyone in the league. When you do that, your edges are going to give out.

Ok let me qualify my statement, PA in general and the Philly area itself is not lacking in "white trash" lookin people. However, Western PA (Pennsyltucky) has more than their share of "models" for the human evolutionary chart. In fact, even though there is a percentage of people who have 4 teeth (2 in their mouth and 2 in their pocket) in this area..the actual percentage of true biological inbreds I'm sure is much higher in the foothills of Western PA.

Furthermore, the deformities are probably ALSO attributed to the following factoid:

The Most Polluted Cities in the United States

The City of Angels no longer holds the dubious title of the Sootiest City in the United States. That honor is now held by Pittsburgh (though LA is still the most polluted other measures).

The American Lung Association’s State of The Air 2008 report ranked metropolitan areas according to their ozone, year round and short-term particle pollution (Data [PDF])

The most polluted cities, according to the short-term particle pollution measure are:
1. Pittsburgh - New Castle, PA
2. Los Angeles - Long Beach - Riverside, CA
3. Fresno - Madera, CA
4. Bakersfield, CA
5. Birmingham - Hoover - Cullman, AL
6. Logan, UT - ID
7. Salt Lake City - Ogden - Clearfield, UT
8. Sacramento - Arden - Arcade - Yuba City, CA - NV
9. Detroit - Warren - Flint, MI
10. Washington - Baltimore - Northern Virginia, DC - MD - VA - WV
The most polluted cities, by year-round particle pollution:
1. Los Angeles - Long Beach - Riverside, CA
2. Pittsburgh - New Castle, PA
3. Bakersfield, CA
4. Birmingham - Hoover - Cullman, AL
5. Visalia - Porterville, CA
6. Atlanta - Sandy Springs - Gainesville, GA - AL
7. Cincinnati - Middletown - Wilmington, OH - KY - IN
8. Fresno - Madera, CA
8. Hanford - Corcoran, CA
8. Detroit - Warren - Flint, MI
8. Cleveland - Akron - Elyria, OH
The most polluted cities, by ozone pollution:
1. Los Angeles - Long Beach - Riverside, CA
2. Bakersfield, CA
3. Visalia - Porterville, CA
4. Houston - Baytown - Huntsville, TX
5. Fresno - Madera, CA
6. Sacramento - Arden - Arcade - Yuba City, CA - NV
7. Dallas - Fort Worth, TX
8. New York - Newark - Bridgeport, NY - NJ - CT - PA
9. Washington - Baltimore - Northern Virginia, DC - MD - VA - WV
10. Baton Rouge - Pierre Part, LA

Crosby is not Briere's size. Sorry. Regardless of what you believe when he is next to Richards they are about the same.

Even when Sid is going straight down the ice, someone gets close and barely touches him, he goes down. No sharp turns or cuts. No need to make excuses. He is a great player but has a rep for diving.
