I think you are reaching if you think none of the people that cause problems in the city attend the games. The reality is that the fans who attend the games are a fair representation of the city as a whole. The Phillies alone draw 3 million fans. The Eagles .5 mill. Flyers .8 mill. The 76ers .5 mil.

It is just simple math + demographics + crime states = Philadelphia has bad fans.

Who do you think committed the 400 murders in Philadelphia last year? It sure wasn't Montreal Canadians fans.

Well genius, if you can find 100 fans that actually ATTENDED ANY games *AND* committed murders, then your hypotenuse may be worth studying. Otherwise, you are just full of it.

Besides, how many of the fans that attend games drive in from some suburb? You need to factor those out of your equation.

I call BS on your theory.

Guys -- it the angry penguin. Philly teams routinely give their fans an angry penguin. They come tantalizingly close only to fall apart.

Sorry, but I've been to a lot of sporting events. West Virginia University fans are the worst, but Philly fans are 2nd. I've never experienced any mistreatment other than the usual "Pittsburgh sucks" shouted from afar, but I've seen my fair share of over-the-line tx directed at others, more venomous and more frequent than any place but WVU at night.

Best fans - University of Nebraska and Texas A&M. They actually went out of their way to make us feel welcome.

yours are too rare to worry about.
And I actually liked hypotenuse in that context. Because isn't the opposite of a "right angle" a "wrong angle"?

Ivonne Hernandez was arraigned Monday on reckless second-degree murder and drunken driving charges and was held without bail. She did not enter a plea.

Hernandez , 43, was speeding early Friday toward a small group that included the man, Matthew Beaudoin, 29, and never hit her brakes, prosecutor Susan Morrell said Monday. Beaudoin died of massive head trauma at a hospital, Morrell said.

Authorities wouldn't describe the argument, but witnesses said it heated up when Hernandez identified herself as a New York Yankees fan. Nashua, about 45 miles northwest of Boston, is the territory of the rival team the Boston Red Sox.

Bartender Tanya Moran said the argument spilled outside, and at least one person in a group that included Beaudoin began chanting against the Yankees when they saw a Yankees sticker on Hernandez 's car.

"She accelerated at a high speed for about 200 feet. She went directly at this group of people," Morrell said. "She indicated to police that she wanted to scare this group of people. She thought they would get out of the way."

Hernandez was arrested at the scene. She said she had been drinking and refused to take a breath-alcohol test, said Morrell. Hernandez said she had been in an argument with the group.

Hernandez 's public defender, James Quay, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

Can't EVER remember a Philadelphia sports fan killing some other team's sports fan.

Well obviously you don't understand FACTS. According to FACT, everyone in Philadelphia is an Eagles/Phillies/Flyers fan. Therefore every muder commited in this city is commited by an Eagles/Phillies/Flyers fan. Which basically means that every murder in the city is the teams fault. This is undisputed factual wisdom I learned from the genious known as Zete.

As for those this Yankees fan, see she is not really a fan. Any time a fan in another city does a crime, they are technically not a "fan". In fact, I do believe I learned from Zete during one of his enlightening lectures that the minute that Yankees fan ran her car into Red-Sox fans, she immediatly became a Philly fan do to the simple rules of hostile fan evolution.

So a basic rule of thumb is, the law of hostile fan evolution states that any hostile fan in the world is automatically considered a Philly fan due to natural laws. Even if a soccer fan in Brazil riots, he is automatically a Philly fan, no question. The law of gravity has been known to bend due to atmospheric conditions, the law of hostile fan evolution NEVER BENDS!!! Even in space, if a fan does something hostile, they probably are wearing an Eagles Jersey.
