I don't buy the etiquette excuse. When I have attended out of town games the fans in those stadiums were fine. When those same fans come here they are probably fine. On the other hand I have never been to an Eagles game without an incident. Most of the time it is one drunkin Eagles fan vs another drunkin Eagles fan.
I had a Phillies jersey on at Saturday's game and a drunken Phillie fan gave me the finger while I was eating a Schmitter. Yes, he looked like a scumbag.

I'm a Yankees fan: I ****ing hate the Mets!

I root for the Phillies so long as they're not playing my team.

Classy Caps fan after last nights OT loss chucks a bottle at Carter. Moron is caught on tape too. But yeah Philly fans are the worst!

Fans are essentially the same everywhere- the overt bashing of Philly fans needs to stop because its the to do, like bash Comcast or talk about "going green"- get a clue

Someone got stabbed at a Jets game in the meadowlands a few years back, same in Oakland- and I as recall, the Indy fans booed the hell out of a 12 year old girl in the Punt pass and kick competition on national TV because she was from NE- if that happened in Philly it would have been front page on US Today with a ridiculous line about Santa Clause too.

Anyway, heres your mutual respect and class from Sox-Yanks in Yankee stadium, but right, only in Philly are people asses.

Fortunately, I was on my way back towards my seat so I did not have to endure their taunts for long. Apparently Phillies fans who stand up for Mets fans are no better than Mets fans themselves in the eyes of Philadelphia.

This is not, of course, the first time I have experienced such hostility coming from Philadelphia sports fans, but it got me wondering why they feel a necessity to be this way. Though I am (and have long been) a Phillies fan, I have a lot of respect for our biggest division rivals (as well as any other opposing team) and see no absolutely no problem with their fans showing their support. Why am I in the minority?

To answer the original question, it's because on an annual basis at least one Philly team manages to give fans the sports equivalent of an angry penguin.

The main thing I will never understand about Philly fans is how they feel like they deserve a parade since it's been 25 years since a philly team has won a championship. For some cities it's been 70 years so when i hear that stupid statement about-"It's been long enough and we are due for a parade" I just shake my head.
