This 100% defines my whole point. Why should Jimmy Rollins and Chase Ultey have to hear "Lets Go Mets" and hear half the crowd cheer when the Mets score a run in their own stadium. Or have half the crowd rise in Blue and Orange when Beltran hits a single. That is the point I am trying to make. I am not talking about cursing at little kids.

Fortunately, I was on my way back towards my seat so I did not have to endure their taunts for long. Apparently Phillies fans who stand up for Mets fans are no better than Mets fans themselves in the eyes of Philadelphia.

This is not, of course, the first time I have experienced such hostility coming from Philadelphia sports fans, but it got me wondering why they feel a necessity to be this way. Though I am (and have long been) a Phillies fan, I have a lot of respect for our biggest division rivals (as well as any other opposing team) and see no absolutely no problem with their fans showing their support. Why am I in the minority?
"What drives Philadelphia sports fans to be so hostile?"

They are a bunch of drunkin scumbags. You are in the minority because you are sober.

The ushers are not security guards. They are two seperate jobs which is part of the problem. When I had season tickets the usher in my section was a 70 year old woman.

Because the fans should have a right to freedom of speech without being harassed. Why is that such a radical idea to you?

I hate to invoke Chris Crocker, but LEAVE THE METS FANS ALONE! THEY'RE HUMAN!

Possibly our long and not-so-glorious recent history of painful losses, coupled with Philly often being compared unfavorably with NY in general? I don't know, just a guess. I will say, it is incredibly annoying and frustrating to go to Phillies games and be surrounded by Mets fans, especially if the Phillies aren't winning.

What's more, I'm in a mixed-team marriage...I'm a Phillies fan, he's a Mets fan. It's tough, but we make it work somehow.
Eeeewww!

The reason your players should have to hear the Mets fans cheer is because you have lousy fans and you can't sellout your own stadium. If you don't want Mets fans at the games then you should buy the tickets yourselves.

PS. The Phillies advertise ticket sales in NY on WFAN.

And usually proven wrong. I am pretty sure the Philles DO NOT advertise ticket sales on WFAN.
