Thanks for the "edumacation". You have pointed out the error in my way of thinking. I was just so wrong.

Can't EVER remember a Philadelphia sports fan killing some other team's sports fan.
Seriously. I saw that story on the news this morning, and my first thought was, "And they say Philly fans are bad?"

My second thought was, "How long is it going to take Terry Francona to find a way to spin it into a slam on Philadelphia fans" (as he did when there was violence by a Red Sox fan against a player a couple of years ago)

The whole Philly fans thing really is more hype then anything at this point- it is no less hostile then any other sports city in the NE.

The heyday of craziness was the late 80's early 90's at eagles games at the Vet- and most of the arrests were for public urination because of the lack of bathrooms, but that just doesnt make for a good story in the media so we wont tell it- the fights were on par with Giants stadium and there is a direct correlation to fights in the stand to how many point the birds are behind multiplied by kickoff time.

People now at the Linc want to convince themselves its crazy because they want to be a part of it and wear it like a badge of honor but its not.

Middle America is a whole different story. Ive seen the birds in virtually every road stadium and its all the same. As a long time season ticket holder to the eagles, sixers and phillies I feel as If I have a good grasp on the situation, but then again this is phillyblog so Im sure I dont.

You are living in denial. Philly fans are scumbags. Philly has twice as many murders as NY and only a quarter the population. The Philly murder rate is 8 x NY per capita. Is that media hype? What teams do you think the criminals in Philly support?

Thanks! I have now seen the light, its so true I am in denial. I never noticed before how the murder rate of a city was a direct correlation to the scumbag level of the a teams fans. I need to alert my friends who live in Baltimore and DC that they are also scumbag fans too based on their murder rate.

So whats your deal? Did someone with an flyers hat steal your bike or something as a child? May I ask what teams you root for? Let me guess:

MLB:Yankees or Red Sox
NBA: Lakers or Celtics
NFL: Cowboys Giants or Raiders

How far off am I?

Zete,

As a public service to sports fans, Ive embraced your air tight logic and discovered that apparently we're only the 9th most scumbag fans- is that correct? So what does Newark's murder rate tell you about Devil's fans?

Detroit 47.3
Balt 43.3
New Orleans 37.6
Newark 37.4
St. Louis 37.2
Oakland 36.4
Washington 29.1
Cincinnati 28.8
Philadelphia 27.7
Buffalo 26.4
Kansas City 25
Atlanta 22.6
Memphis 21.6

I was in the mood for a nice hostile crowd so by Zete's logic I decided to go to a Camden River Sharks game.

Needless to say,

I want my money back Zete.

Zete doesn't root for any Philadelphia team. He roots against them. He's a pure 100% Philadelphia sports Nega-fan.

That is... until one of them wins a championship. Then he'll run around beating his chest shouting "We're #1."
